Robinson Helicopters
Why Robinson Helicopters?
At Phoenix Helicopter Services we use Robinson Helicopters for our training aircraft. Why? The reasons are simple:
Cost- First of all, Robinson Helicopters are the most cost effective training aircraft in the world. They provide the best possible way for people to achieve their dream of becoming a helicopter pilot at a reasonable cost.
Reliability- Robinsons have an excellent track record of both safety and reliability. When operated correctly, these helicopters will perform at their very best until the end of their service life.
Industry Standards- Robinson Helicopters are the worlds top selling helicopters. As a newly graduated student, this will give you the best possible chance finding a job. Robinsons are used for many commercial jobs, such as aerial photography and tours. Also, the R22 is the most commonly used helicopter in flight instruction, allowing you to work as a flight instructor.
The Robinson SFAR
Robinson Helicopter pilots must meet certain requirements, set forth in SFAR 73. These requirements were put into place to increase the training standards and experience for any pilot flying an R22 or R44. These requirements will not increase the training time to get your ratings and will be included in your normal training.
If a pilot wishes to work as an instructor in an R22, they will need to meet the experience requirements of the SFAR. The SFAR states that a pilot must have at least 50 hours time in an R22 in order to instruct in an R22. If you were to do all of your training in another helicopter, you would be required to receive 50 hours of R22 training in order to be eligible to instruct. If you had trained in an R22, you are legal to instruct in any helicopter.
